MILAN, May 16 (Class Editori) -- One of the most renowned and sought-after wool mills in the Biella region, Drago, recently opened a sales outlet in Beijing to support its custom tailoring activities, further strengthening its presence in the Asian market and confirming its status as an international reference point in the world of high-end fabrics.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Ambassador Massimo Ambrosetti supported the initiative by organizing a promotional event for Italian excellence in men's high tailoring, titled "Italian High Tailoring: From Raw Material to Finished Garment," which featured the exceptional participation of Master Gaetano Aloisio, president of the National Academy of Tailors and the World Federation of Master Tailors.
The initiative was also part of the new series by the Farnesina, "Italian Fashion Days Around the World," inaugurated last January by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani.
The proceedings were opened by Ambassador Ambrosetti, who recalled how both Italy and China have "given rise to artisanal and manufacturing traditions that have developed and enriched over millennia of research, experience, and passion, to the extent that they largely fall within the intangible cultural heritage protected by UNESCO".
"The tailoring in Italy," the Ambassador emphasized, "has always been supported by extraordinary fabric manufacturing, often reaching levels of absolute excellence. Biella has been one of the historic centers of the wool industry in Europe since the late Middle Ages, and this great tradition has remained alive to this day, as demonstrated by Lanificio Drago".
Paolo Drago, CEO of the mill, which he leads alongside his sister Daniela, who is responsible for the administrative side, provided testimony to the successful internationalization of one of Italy's excellences in the world of high-quality men's fabrics, which, along with hundreds of small, medium, and large companies, fuels the historic tradition of the Italian textile sector.
The proceedings continued by highlighting the history of excellence and the unparalleled quality of Italian fabrics, leading to the highlight of the evening, during which Master Gaetano Aloisio exalted the essence of Italian tailoring art and the close link between craftsmanship and Made in Italy, which "is not just a label on a product. It is much more: it is a philosophy, a style, a profound expression of our cultural heritage. It is the way Italy tells itself to the world: through excellence, creativity, elegance, and respect for what is well made".
The over 150 guests present -- representatives of the Italian System, tailors, and the Italian and Chinese business worlds in the fields of bespoke clothing, luxury, fashion, lifestyle, media, design, art, and culture -- were also able to appreciate some creations on mannequins made for the occasion by Master Aloisio.
