ZHENGZHOU, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, on Thursday held separate meetings with media leaders attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province.
Fu welcomed the representatives from media organizations and think tanks of SCO countries, who have come together to explore ways to strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and to foster broader consensus on sustainable development within the SCO framework.
He said he looks forward to all parties working together to tell good stories of friendly cooperation in shared development, common prosperity, and joint efforts to promote peace, contributing wisdom and strength to building a shared future of the SCO.
All sides agreed that the media and think tank summit, held in the run-up to the SCO summit in Tianjin, serves as a bridge for deepening cooperation and pursuing common development.
Mohammed Alyami, director general of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, expressed readiness to share stories about China with Arabic-speaking audiences and voiced hope for more fruitful outcomes from cooperation with Xinhua in news exchanges.
Iryna Akulovich, director general of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, hailed China as a key defender of the international order and pledged to deepen exchanges with Xinhua and open a new chapter in practical cooperation between the two agencies.
Mederbek Shermetaliev, director of the Kabar News Agency of Kyrgyzstan, voiced hope that the two news agencies will further strengthen personnel exchanges and mutual learning, and contribute to closer cooperation between the two countries under the SCO framework.
Andrey Kondrashov, director general of Russia's TASS news agency, expressed the agency's readiness to deepen and broaden its strategic partnership with Xinhua, and to contribute to the development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.
The SCO Media and Think Tank Summit is being held from July 23 to 27 in Zhengzhou. It is co-hosted by Xinhua, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Henan provincial government, under the guidance of China's State Council Information Office.
