BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhua) -- A curated exhibition presenting art legacy of Xiao County is on display for July 4-6, and July 11-12 with free admission for the public in Hefei Grand Theatre of east China's Anhui Province.
Featuring over 200 fine art works and showcased in such five sections as the Xiao County calligraphy and ink painting, Xiao County art masters gallery, Xiao County art collection, collector's creative space, and Longcheng painting school, the exhibition allow visitors to dive deep into Xiao County's calligraphy and ink painting art which embodies both classical roots and contemporary innovation.
As a curated highlight, the collector's creative space redefines art in daily contexts, where exhibits can blend into study rooms, tea houses, offices, and other settings—serving as both daily items and art collections.
Various interactive activities are planned for the creative space during the exhibition. "DIY with painting elements", for instance, invites visitors to use material kits to create bookmarks, lacquered fans, and other small items.
In the "face-to-face with collectors" session, painter Liu Chunfang shared multiple masterpieces and stories behind them with the audience. "For children, such activities combine education and fun, enhancing engagement while deepening appreciation for traditional art," a parent said.
Recognized as one of the "hometowns of Chinese calligraphy and painting," art has long been woven into the rural fabric of Xiao County, with the tradition of "wielding hoes during busy farming seasons and brushes during leisure" persisting to this day.
The county currently boasts over 40,000 calligraphy and painting creators, including 55 members of the China Calligraphers Association, 63 members of the China Artists Association, and nearly 500 provincial-level members, producing over 100,000 works annually.
