BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Greek photo exhibition themed "Civilization Dialogue: Eternal Olympic Flame - From Ancient to Modern Olympic Games" opened at the Beijing Olympic Museum on June 13, showcasing the rich legacy of the Olympic Games throughout history.
The exhibition traces over 2,800 years of Olympic heritage, from the origin in 776 BC to the revival of the modern Games in 1896 and up to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Featuring 15 banners showcasing rare historical photographs and archaeological artifacts, the display highlights key moments in the evolution of Olympism.
Curated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, the exhibition has previously been hosted at UN venues in Geneva, Vienna, and New York. Diplomats, Chinese officials, media representatives, and university students attended the opening ceremony, demonstrating the strong ties between Greece and China in promoting Olympic ideals.
The exhibition offers a rich presentation of important moments in Olympic history and is a powerful reminder of the common Olympic traditions that unite Greece and China, said Evgenios Kalpyris, the ambassador of Greece to China.
Hou Ming, director of the Beijing Olympic Museum, stated that the exhibition strengthens and stimulates the traditional friendship with passion.
Co-organized by the Embassy of Greece in Beijing and the Beijing Olympic City Development Association, the exhibition will run until July 13, 2025. (Edited by Yang Linlin with Xinhua Silk Road, linlinyanglyn@163.com)
