MOSCOW, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia are developing actively, and Chinese authors are among the most widely read on the Russian literary market today, said Mikhail Shvydkoy, Special Representative of Russian President on International Cultural Cooperation, during his interview with Xinhua.
"We are always interested in what is happening in Chinese literature and painting. Chinese authors, musicians and artists are in extraordinary demand on Russian bookshelves. Russian performers are also welcome guests in China today. The Bolshoi Theater, Mariinsky Theater, and Valery Gergiev...... I could list it endlessly," he said.
"Everyone understands perfectly well that the Russian market is a big market which no one wants to leave. We see how the Russian market remains attractive for business not only from the Global South such as our strategic partner China, but also from European countries," Shvydkoy added.
It is learned that since the beginning of this year, novels by the most sought-after authors of Hao Jingfang, Xia Jia and Han Song were published in Russia. Liu Cixin's hit The Three-Body Problem was reissued, and since March, it has been at the top of the sales charts in Russian bookstores and online services.
