BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The opening ceremony of the exhibition titled "The Greeks: Agamemnon to Alexander the Great" was held at the Capital Museum in Beijing on November 20, 2024.

The opening ceremony featured addresses from several distinguished guests, including Evgenios Kalpyris, the ambassador of Greece to China; Zhang Lixin, director of the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau; Eleni Papadopoulou, director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania, Crete; and Han Zhanming, director of the Capital Museum.

The event was also attended by diplomats, classical studies scholars, and representatives of the press.
This exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of a historical period spanning thousands of years, shaping world history, literature, science, and art, said Kalpyris during his speech.
The exhibition features 270 artifacts from 14 Greek museums and archaeological institutions, including the National Archaeological Museum of Greece and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.

These exhibits provide insight into the social and cultural characteristics of ancient Greece, allowing visitors to admire the achievements of Greek civilization while exploring the diversity and shared values of world cultures.
Jointly organized by the Greek Ministry of Culture, the Hunan Museum, the Nanjing Museum, and the Capital Museum, the exhibition will run until May 18, 2025.
