BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Staff members of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has recently conducted an on-site inspect of power lines and facilities in the ancient town of Fengsheng, located in Banan District of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, in an attempt to strengthen precautions and effectively curb safety hazards.
As a famous historical and cultural town in China, Fengsheng boasts many historical and cultural relics. In recent years, it has been committed to building itself into an urban leisure agriculture demonstration town.
Since 2022, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has carried out a power grid structure upgrade and transformation project in Fengsheng with a total investment of 5 million yuan, providing all-round power guarantee for local residents' household demand and the development of agriculture and tourism industries.
Relying on the upgrading and transformation of the power grid, the ancient town has successfully built a 1,500-mu (about 100 hectares) modern vegetable base and an industrial cluster of crisp peaches and plums, and integrated intangible cultural heritages or relevant elements into rural industries to promote local economic development.
In the past three years, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has invested a total of 278 million yuan in rural power grid transformation in Banan District, providing high-quality electricity guarantees for the rural revitalization.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
