BEIJING, Sept. 10, 2024 (Xinhua) -- Themed "deep integration, green development", the Jiangsu-Germany Dialogue 2024 was held on September 5 in the city of Changzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province.
Gathering representatives from nearly 150 Chinese and German enterprises, the event aimed to increase efforts from both sides to explore new opportunities and show new achievements in economic and trade cooperation, industrial transformation, people-to-people exchanges and so on.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership. It is also the forth consecutive year that Changzhou has hosted the Jiangsu-Germany Dialogue event.
In recent years, Changzhou has been continuously deepening cooperation and exchanges with Germany, gathering 255 German-funded enterprises. Over 8,000 enterprises in Changzhou have engaged in global trade and business, with more than 600 companies investing in nearly a thousand projects overseas and more than 3,000 foreign-funded enterprises settling in the city, according to Pan Dongling, deputy mayor of Changzhou.
In addition to economic and trade cooperation, people-to-people exchanges between Changzhou and Germany have also been fruitful. With seven pairs of sister cities, people from the two sides have maintained friendly mutual exchanges in various fields, including educational cooperation among universities, vocational schools and other educational institutions.
As green development becomes a global consensus, Lukas Meyer, acting consul general at the German consulate in Shanghai, said that the challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation require the two sides to accelerate deepening cooperation and integrate green and low-carbon development into economic and industrial policies.
Representatives with ten Sino-German cooperation projects signed agreements at the event, covering various fields including equipment manufacturing, new energy auto parts, biomedicine and others.
During the event, industry experts also gave in-depth interpretations around topics such as new energy batteries and carbon footprint management, sharing insights on the path of two-way integrated development of the Sino-German industrial chain and the opportunities for green transformation of enterprises.
