BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- When nearly 1,000 spectators thronged the Forever Love 2024 concert held in Yucun Village on Monday, they were deeply enchanted by the summer musical feast brought by Richard Clayderman that adorned the rural tourism landscape there.
With the darkening sky as the backdrop, the piano concert was staged at Yushan mining pit site of Yucun Village, which was surrounded by picturesque mountains in Tianhuangping Town of Anji County in Huzhou City, east China.
After 20-plus Chinese and foreign songs were played in succession by the French pianist, every spectator present at the concert experienced how the traditional Chinese music blended with western classical music for closer bond between the two cultures.
Apart from playing the "Ballade pour Adeline", "Mariage d'amour", "Butterfly Lovers", etc., Richard Clayderman also created a new song based on the Chinese folk song "Jasmine" and the reputed French song "La Vie En Rose" to celebrate the longstanding friendship between China and France.
Inviting 16 local children to perform with him, the French piano master expressed his best wishes for sharing music, a common instrument that transcends cultural and national boundaries, among people from different cultures.
When the concert came to an end amid loud and long-lasting applause, a local music lover said she had not expected to enjoy such wonderful music at her doorstep while in the past, she could only listen to Richard Clayderman's music via video or audio.
In the village known for thriving rural tourism, the outdoor concert attested again to its practices to bolster green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
In the future, Yucun Village intends to stage more modern and high-level cultural activities to enlarge its global friends circle and pool new growth drivers for rural development, said a local personnel in charge of related affairs in Tianhuangping Town.
