BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Linyi City, located in east China's Shandong Province, saw the total electricity consumption in the key cultural and tourism sectors reach 3.603 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) so far this year, up 63.25 percent year on year, with the power consumed in the tertiary industry growing by more than 92 percent, data from the local big data center showed.
State Grid Linyi Power Supply Company has utilized big data from the power sector to conduct monitoring and analysis, developing three scenarios for power data analysis, including cultural tourism economic prosperity index, red culture and tourism power consumption index, and Yihe River electricity monitoring and analysis. These tools assist the local authorities in analyzing and monitoring cultural and tourism development.
In May 2024, ten hot cultural and tourism scenic spots saw an increase in daily electricity consumption, which indicates the vigorous development of the night economy in Linyi, said Jiang Rui, a data management specialist of State Grid Linyi Power Supply Company.
During the May Day holiday, a total of 1,645 charging piles in 39 expressway service areas and 388 urban public and bus charging stations of Linyi have completed 69,100 charging services, with a charging capacity of 1.3582 million kWh, a year-on-year increase of 32.43 percent.
State Grid Linyi Power Supply Company plans to continue focusing on the application of new technologies, with an emphasis on supporting digital capabilities, applying artificial intelligence, and leveraging data elements to promote local industry, and economic and social development.
