BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Guizhou Province witnessed a travel boom during just-ended May Day holiday, with the support of dazzling new forms of outdoor village sports games and popular ethnic cultural events.
Statistics showed during the May Day holiday, 98 percent of the 387 hotels and B&Bs in Rongjiang County of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture were reserved and the county saw over 340,000 tourists inflow, with the comprehensive tourism income hitting 330 million yuan (about 45.68 million U.S. dollars).
During the May Day holiday, Guizhou's village sport competitions, represented by "Village Super League" or "Cun Chao" and "Village Basketball League" or "Cun BA" have maintained a hot trend, and continuously promoted in-depth integration of culture, sports, tourism and commerce development, thus advancing the overall development of local economy and society.

According to members of the organizing committee, the county strives to build the brand of "Village Super League" into a cultural and sports carnival by performing intangible cultural heritage programs and inviting folk football amateur teams. The soccer field in Rongjiang becomes a joyful gathering place that audiences could enjoy disco dancing as well as folk song and dance performances during halftime breaks.

Besides, the county launched a variety of activities such as bullfighting competition. A series of innovative measures have kept the "Village Super League" booming momentum and continued to drive the development of Rongjiang's catering, tourism, agriculture and other industries.
In the cultural specialty and creative street near "Village Super League" competition filed, a variety of agricultural products and intangible cultural heritage handicrafts become hit souvenir for tourists. The sales have increased fivefold compared to usual, said a shopkeeper.
According to UnionPay, during the May Day holiday period, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture ranked third in Guizhou in terms of consumption amount, accounting for 8.03 percent of the total.
