BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Central China’s Henan Province saw its utilization rate of electric vehicle charging piles surged during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday that ended on April 6, said the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company in a press release.
The EV charging facilities at high-speed network recorded 1.16 million kilowatt hours of electricity usage, accounting for 67.67 percent of the total electricity usage at the charging facilities across the province, said the grid company. The daily electricity usage averaged at about 0.39 million kilowatt hours, surging 324.59 percent year on year.
In order to meet charging demand of electric vehicle owners visiting local scenic sights, State Grid Jiaozuo Power Supply Company, an subsidiary of the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company, analyzed daily traffic congestion points based on historic data and added personnel to the high-speed service areas with large vehicle flows.
In recent years, Henan firmly promoted the scientific layout of charging infrastructure construction. It has 1,258 newly-constructed fast charging piles at 243 highway service centers, meeting charging demand of 1,424 electric vehicles at the same time, said the company.
