BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A local power supply company extended its drone working time by charging the battery in many nests to inspect local power lines in Xin county, a mountainous county in central China’s Henan province.
“In previous period, a drone checking regular parts of a power line needed multiple operations by workers, limited by its battery life,” said Wang Weihua, an employee with Xin County Power Supply Company of State Grid Henan Electric Power Supply Co., adding that drones are now able to double its inspection radius based on the multiple nest function.
With the new function, the local power supply company could help improve its power line inspection despite lack of patrol personnel, said the employee. (Edited by Wang Sheng, wangsheng@xinhua.org)
