BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has recently sent staff to secure power supply and carry out special inspection of power lines and facilities for a large-scale live dragon dance performance in Tongliang District, Chongqing.

Dragon lantern making and dragon dance in Tongliang are included in the list of China's national intangible cultural heritage, and are popular at home and abroad.
Stable power supply has made the processing of dragon lanterns more refined, helping improve the quality and quantity of such lanterns, introduced local intangible cultural heritage inheritor Zhou Jian.
In line with Tongliang's dragon culture inheritance and development measures, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has arranged special service teams to get to know the electricity demand for dragon lantern making and dragon dance activities and provide power supply services in advance.

According to Zhou, the fourth quarter and the first month of every year are usually the peak periods for dragon lantern production, especially the peak season followed with the year of 2024 which is the Year of the Dragon, and during these months, the power supply and services are very supportive to help secure on-time delivery of the lanterns.
To provide safe and reliable power supply during the peak dragon lantern production periods, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has carried out all-round inspections over the electrical production equipment, strengthened guidance on safe use of electricity, identified and managed hidden dangers.
It has also renovated the power facilities of a local village where a dragon lantern making workshop for rural revitalization is located, building, relocating or upgrading eight transformers with a total capacity of 900 kVA, and adding 18.24 kilometers of power lines to provide strong and reliable power supply for dragon lantern production.

In addition, the company has carried out power supply services many times for local dragon dance performances, helping Tongliang to build a world-class brand for Chinese dragon culture.
