BEIJING, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- The 2024 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) kicked off on February 26 in Barcelona, Spain. As a global leading exhibition in the mobile communications field, this year's event has attracted more than 2,400 companies from over 200 countries and regions. Notably, over 300 Chinese companies present their latest products and cutting-edge technologies at MWC.

-- Demonstration of innovative capabilities of Chinese companies

The MWC is themed on "Future First", with a focus on six major topics: 5G and Beyond, Humanising AI, Connecting Everything, Manufacturing DX, Game Changers, and Our Digital DNA. Discussions at the conference cover subjects such as 5G-A, the revolution of generative AI, and the future of 6G. Chinese companies investing heavily in cutting-edge technologies in recent years are emerging as new highlights of the exhibition.

Huawei, one of the largest exhibitors at MWC, showcased a full range of 5.5G products and solutions for multiple scenarios, including 5G-A, F5G-A, and Net5.5G. Huawei also unveiled new intelligent digital solutions for ten industries and a series of flagship products at MWC. Additionally, the company demonstrated ten systematic AI-oriented innovations, covering  computing power, storage, databases, solutions, etc. Huawei is set to host two roundtables and five summits to discuss subjects such as the direction of 5G development in the new stage and the landscape of 5G-A industry with technology companies from across the world. Furthermore, Huawei will also release the first large model of the communications industry.

At MWC, ZTE, another Chinese tech firm showcased a wide range of innovative products and solutions featuring ultra-efficiency, sustainability and intelligence through its four key exhibition zones - Ultra-Efficient Infrastructure, Intelligence for Greater Value, Boundless Future, and Smart Life. The aim is to highlight groundbreaking ICT technologies and their application advancements. Meanwhile, ZTE will launch its first foldable phone during the conference.

HONOR, a leading Chinese smart phone maker, unveiled its latest range of products at MWC, including the MagicOS 8.0 operating system, the large model Magic, flagship phone Magic 6 series, and foldable phone PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic V2 RSR. HONOR will also introduce its first AI PC, MagicBook Pro16, to the global market during the conference.

TECNO, the flagship brand of Transsion Holdings, presented its four-legged bionic robot, AR gaming set, and a series of new concept materials for imaging innovation technology at MWC. Xiaomi displayed its first electric car, Xiaomi SU7, along with new tablets, smart watches, robotic vacuum cleaners, and other products.

-- Global collaboration in AI ecosystem building

Technological advancements, such as 5G and generative AI, have fostered cooperation and communication across various industries. As the journey towards connecting everything goes on, it is becoming increasingly difficult for a single manufacturer to provide complete coverage of all scenarios with their own products, and even harder to meet the diverse needs of users on they own. Based on this understanding, Chinese enterprises such as HONOR have expressed their aspiration for openness rather than seclusion and are ready to jointly build a technological community with a shared future in the AI era.

"We hope to leverage China's excellent industrial chain resources and capabilities in conjunction with global innovation. This approach will bring China's industrial chain to the global stage, allowing consumers and industries worldwide to appreciate China's technologies and innovation performance. This will be one of our future strategies," said Zhao Ming, CEO of HONOR.

"Generative AI is propelling the mobile industry towards an era of all intelligence. As estimated by IDC, global AI mobile phone shipments will reach 170 million units in 2024, accounting for 15 percent of all smartphone shipments", said Li Peng, Huawei's corporate senior vice president and president of ICT Sales & Service.

Senior executives from HONOR, Qualcomm, and Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) host of this conference gathered to explore the future of AI on February 26. Just the day before, HONOR established partnerships with international tech giants, including Qualcomm, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Intel on jointly developing an open ecosystem for the AI industry.
