BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Staff members of State Grid carried out a thorough power inspection for ceramics companies at the Antao tourist town in Rongchang District of Chongqing, southwest China.
Rongchang pottery has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage since 2010. To meet the electricity demands of local ceramic enterprises, State Grid took a series of measures to ensure adequate power supply and help revive Rongchang pottery-making industry.
State Grid employees inspected ceramic enterprises’ electric kilns and other equipment and found some potential hidden insulation hazards. They also explained the instruction of electrical equipment and emergency response measures to help craftsmen improve the awareness of electricity safety.
It is leaned that to deal with the problem of aging and messy power equipment lines at Antao tourist town, State Grid Chongqing Yongchuan Power Supply Company has invested 800,000 yuan to improve its distribution transformer capacity.
It has installed 12 new electric boxes and laid 16.2 kilometers of underground power lines at the town. At the same time, the company supported 289 households to install electricity meters, optimized the layout of power grid at the town and strived to restore the local architectural style.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
