BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The China-Myanmar border ports of Zhangfeng, Leiyun and Nongdao in southwest China's Yunnan Province handled over 3,000 trips of transport vehicles to achieve total import volume of over 27,000 tonnes of sugarcane from January 1 to 7, 2024, according to the Ruili Border Inspection Station on Monday.

A line of vehicles loaded with fresh sugarcane orderly entered the Zhangfeng port on Monday. The staff of the Ruili Border Inspection Station swiftly completed the inspection of the goods and vehicles and granted the clearance.

Sugarcane cultivation has been one of the main projects in China-Myanmar cross-border agricultural economic cooperation. In recent years, as the sugar industry in both countries continues to develop, the production of sugarcane in Myanmar has gradually increased, and the demand for cross-border sugarcane transportation has risen accordingly.

The border inspection station has introduced several measures to facilitate sugar-making enterprises in improving the efficiency of customs clearance and ensuring the smooth entry of sugarcane, said Zha Yufei, the deputy director of the station.
