SHENYANG, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- China’s first 600 kW supercharging station with solar direct-current micro-grid has been in operation for one year, with all indicators beating expectations.
Developed and built by State Grid Shenyang Electric Power Supply Company, the supercharging station has increased the charge efficiency from about 93 percent to about 96 percent. It takes four to eight minutes for an electric vehicle to charge from 0 to 80 percent. On a five-minute charge, electric cars could travel about 300 kilometers.
In addition, the charging station, located in Shenyang, capital city of northeast China’s Liaoning Province, adopts distributed intelligent control technology which could control grid power supply and the solar energy generated by the station with the micro-grid in a more precise way.
The implementation of such supercharger technology could give a boost to electric vehicle promotion and help industry development, said experts. (Edited by Wang Sheng, wangsheng@xinhua.org)
