BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- North China's Tianjin Municipality on October 20 saw the launch of its first batch electric power-themed public welfare education project, which was initiated by China's major power supplier State Grid, in the Dongsan Village, Dong'erying Town, Jizhou District in northern part of the city.
The project, implemented based on the platform of State Grid Public Welfare Foundation and State Grid's partnership with China Next Generation Education Foundation, aims to improve the educational environment for primary and secondary school students and children in need and supplement educational resources by providing voluntary services such as improving schoolhouse conditions, upgrading energy use to clean energy, and spread knowledge of safe electricity use.
State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company under State Grid started developing the public welfare project in 2022. It has built three practice bases of science popularization and education, public welfare research and parent-child reading in the Dong'er Village and Dongsan Village of Dong'erying Town.
On the launch day, volunteer representatives from State Grid Tianjin Jizhou Company gave students a lively lesson on the safe use of electricity. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
