BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Statistics showed that since 2013, 2,940 China-Europe train trips have been launched originating in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA), transporting 288,000 TEUs of goods. In July this year alone, GBA handled 84 trains and transported 9,240 TEUs of goods, hitting a record high, reported Science and Technology Daily Friday.
With the increasingly prominent advantages of the China-Europe freight train and the accelerated construction of domestic and international dual circulation, daily necessities, home appliances, auto parts, large-scale precision instruments and other products from more than 10,000 manufacturing enterprises in GBA have been sold all over the world through China-Europe freight trains.
Yang Wenxi, person in charge of freight department of Guangzhou Railway Group, said that the number of China-Europe freight trains has grown from less than 50 at the beginning to 1,262 in 2022, an increase of more than 25 times. In recent years, the exported commodity structure has been continuously optimized, and the total export volume sees significant increase. Nowadays, the product categories that go abroad from GBA have expanded from the initial few to hundreds.
In July this year, GBA launched the first "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" international railway train, adding a convenient and fast new logistics channel for commercial exchanges between GBA and Central Asia.
So far, China-Europe freight train lines from GBA stand at 18, accounting for 20 percentof the total lines in the nation, connecting more than 100 cities in 24 countries of Europe.
