BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy) stepped up energy production and efforts toward a clean energy shift in the first nine months of the year.

China Energy's coal output totaled 450 million tonnes in the period, edging up 0.2 percent year on year, and its power generation was 900.3 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.7 percent year on year, according to the company.

It invested 127.7 billion yuan (about 17.79 billion U.S. dollars) in development during the period, a surge of 51.7 percent from a year ago, the company said.

To accelerate the green transition, China Energy has increased its input in the development of new energy, the company said, noting that its installed new energy capacity has hit 82.73 million kilowatts.

Since the beginning of 2023, the company has started construction on power projects with a total capacity of 26.67 million kilowatts, with new energy accounting for 19.35 million kilowatts, according to the company.

On deepening global cooperation, the company said its overseas projects have delivered fruitful results, contributing to local development, enhancing environmental protection, increasing employment and improving people's living standards.

China Energy has 14 overseas projects in 10 countries, including South Africa, Greece, Indonesia, Australia and Germany, spanning the fields of coal production, power generation, engineering and technological research and development, according to China Energy spokesperson Chen Jing.

"Most of our projects outside China are in the clean energy field," Chen said.
