BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- A three-day forum with the theme of "Han culture and Chinese civilization" just concluded in Xuzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province on Sunday.

The Second Han Culture Forum saw a main forum, four sub-forums, and a roundtable aiming to promote cultural tourism development in the Huaihai Economic Zone, a region covering dozens of  prefectures and cities in Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui provinces.

More than 150 experts, including cultural theory researchers, scholars from research institutions and universities, and talents in the cultural tourism field from across the country, attended the forum.

They discussed the spiritual connotation, cultural essence and value of the times of the Han culture, and put forward many new ideas, new strategies, and new paths around promoting the inheritance, promotion, transformation and utilization of the Han culture.

It is noted that the Han dynasty is divided into two major periods, namely, the Western Han (202 BC-25 AD) and the Eastern Han (25-220 AD).

Xuzhou is one of the birthplaces and gathering places of Han culture. It has preserved 544 Han cultural relics and 12,137 movable cultural relics of the Han Dynasty. Its Han tombs, Han portrait stones, and Han terracotta warriors and horses are famous globally.

As an important part of the forum, on the evening of September 22, an opening ceremony featuring the Han culture festival also kicked off. From that day to mid-November, more than 50 cultural and tourism activities will be held to present the Han culture to citizens and tourists.
