BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The Coordination Center for Logistics and Operation established under the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has added strong momentum and vitality for the development of the new western land-sea corridor in recent years.

The center was approved for establishment on June 9, 2020, aiming at promoting the construction of the new western land-sea corridor as well as undertaking information platform construction, data collection, talent cultivation, regional cooperation, and other tasks.

The center also led research work and released a series of research results, authoritative data and information to expand the global influence of the new western land-sea corridor.

In May this year, the Development Index of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor was released at the opening ceremony of the 5th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade. In July 2022, the center joined hands with the Chinese Academy of International trade and Economic Cooperation to unveil a joint report on the development of the new western land-sea corridor from 2017 to 2022.

The center also optimized the services level to simplify transportation logistics procedures and improve logistics efficiency, shortening customs clearance time by more than 30 percent and cutting comprehensive enterprises costs by more than 20 percent.

It is expected that by 2027, the freight volume, cargo value and container volume via the new western land-sea corridor will be doubled and the proportion of import and export volume with ASEAN will be stabilized at over 70 percent, said Liu Wei, Director of the Coordination Center for Logistics and Operation of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Launched in 2017, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a trade and logistics passage jointly built by western Chinese provinces and ASEAN member states.

The corridor covers 17 provinces and 61 cities in China, and it has expanded its reach to 393 ports in 119 countries and regions.
