BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The Friendship Gate of Pingxiang City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region registered stable fruit imports growth this year, China News Service (CNS) reported on Monday.
Large trucks loaded with 745 tonnes of durians imported from Vietnam entered China through the land port in the city on Monday, marking the durian imports peak day at the port so far this year.
Since 2022, durians from Vietnam have been allowed to enter Chinese market, diversifying the supply and purchasing channels of durian for customers. After unloaded at the port in Pingxiang, the goods will be dispatched to different places across the country.
Due to the short shelf life of fresh durian, local border inspection station and customs authorities have rolled policies to launch a special fruit pass to facilitate fruits customs clearance without stopping for further procedures.
The port has seen an increasing number of imported tropical fruits such as durian, lychee, mango and jackfruit to enter domestic markets. Sixteen truckloads with a total of 251 tonnes of Vietnamese fresh durians arrived at the port on May 28, and domestic consumers will soon be able to purchase them, said Wu Yongdong, an official from the border inspection station of Friendship Gate.
Up to May 28, the fruit imports from ASEAN countries through the Friendship Gate reached 626,100 tonnes, with trading value amounting to 3.397 billion yuan, up 256 percent and 415 percent year on year respectively.
