SINGAPORE, May 17 (Xinhua) -- An activity named "Tea for Harmony Yaji Cultural Salon" was held in Singapore recently to celebrate the "International Tea Day".
The activity attracted more than 300 guests in Singapore to experience east China Jiangsu's traditional tea culture and leisure life in a visible, tangible and sensible way, and further promoted the cooperation between Jiangsu and Singapore in culture and tourism.
According to Yao Wenzhong, senior official with Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the traditional Chinese tea-making techniques were successfully included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity last year, three of which were coming from Jiangsu, namely the Yuhua Tea Technique, Biluochun Tea Technique and Fuchun Tea Dessert Technique.
Xiao Jianghua, director of China Cultural Centre (Singapore) and China National Tourist Office in Singapore, said that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China has launched the " Tea for Harmony Yaji Cultural Salon" around the world since May. China Cultural Centre (Singapore) will hold a series of such events within 10 days in various forms, so as to pass on the beauty of tea to more Singaporean friends.
During the activity, a young writer from Jiangsu gave a lecture on the tea culture, and a tea artisan presented a tea art performance.
In addition, the activity also set up display areas for Fuchun tea dessert making and Yixing purple clay teapots.
The activity was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and Chinese Embassy in Singapore, and organized by China International Culture Association, China Cultural Centre (Singapore), and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
