BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Production of straddle-type monorail designed by China's leading train maker CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC, 601766.SH) for the urban rail lines 4, 5 and 6 of Monterrey, Mexico recently started at CRRC Nanjing Puzhen's Wuhu factory.
The three urban rail line construction projects will help improve Monterrey's transportation network.
In September 23 of last year, a consortium comprising CRRC and the Portugal-based railroad company Mota-Engil won the contract to build the urban rail lines 4, 5 and 6 in Monterrey.
According to the contract, CRRC will provide digital life-cycle solutions (DLS) featuring digital and intelligent management of urban rail train products.
CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co., Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CRRC, is responsible for making two types of products with medium and low passenger capacity, among which line 4 and line 6 would adopt the straddle-type monorail system, while line 5 would adopt monorail system or digital rail-guided rubber-tired tram.
Additionally, CRRC Nanjing Puzhen has decided to set up one demo line on Ecovia line of Monterrey, and the digital rail-guided rubber-tired tram has recently been kicked off at CRRC Nanjing Puzhen's Suzhou manufacturing base in east China's Jiangsu.
