BEIJING, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The electric car model ATTO 3 of China's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD has come in as Thailand's best-selling EV model for three consecutive months, with 2,434 cars registered in March, reported Shanghai Securities News on Thursday.

In the first quarter of 2023, a total of 5,542 ATTO 3 cars were registered in Thailand, accounting for 37.5 percent of the total amount of EVs registered in the country during the same time period.

According to BYD, since the model was launched in Thailand in October 2022, 10,305 ATTO 3 cars were ordered in Thailand from November 1 to December 12. By March 20, 2023, the company had delivered a total of 11,539 ATTO 3 cars to the Thai market.

Another electric car model of BYD, Dolphin, has also been introduced to Thai consumers. It is expected that the Dolphin cars ordered before April 30 will arrive in Thailand by July 1, according to Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division.

The company's first car plant in Thailand is under construction. The plant is scheduled to start production in the year 2024, serving the market needs in Thailand and other neighboring ASEAN countries.
