The German government has adopted a "Future Strategy for Research and Innovation." The three governing parties, the Social Democrats (SPD), Free Democrats (FDP) and the Greens, had agreed on the project in their coalition agreement. In the 80-page paper, the government sets goals and formulates priorities for its research and innovation policy in the coming years. In the strategy there are references to "missions."
For example, it says: "We want to make Germany a hydrogen republic and a global technology leader in the field of hydrogen." Another goal stated is to make Germany a center for the research, production, and recycling of battery cells.
According to the Federal Ministry of Research, which is responsible for the "Future Strategy," it aims to "improve the framework conditions for an efficient science system," "intensify European and international cooperation in science," "strengthen the skilled labor base," and "involve society more strongly in research and innovation activities."
