BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Outbound travel ticket orders in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region increased 398 percent year on year from January 20 to February 5 this year, with Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and China's Hong Kong among the most popular destinations, data from online travel agency Ctrip showed.

On Monday, China resumed outbound group travel to 20 countries, including Thailand, the Maldives, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and New Zealand. Group tours between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions (SARs) also resumed.

Up to now, Ctrip has launched nearly 1,200 outbound group trips with overseas hotels and cross-border flight booking services, covering 16 countries and Hong Kong and Macao SARs.

On February 7, Ctrip's Yinchuan branch conducted its first outbound group trip in three years after the optimization of COVID-19 response. The group departed from south China's Guangzhou and bound for Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand to enjoy a six-day outbound travel.

Since the middle of January this year, travel agencies have received a rising number of outbound travel inquiries, mainly from people under the age of 55, who revealed growing enthusiasm in Southeast Asian countries and island scenic spots, a source with Ctrip told China News Service.
