The Italian delegation met with the top management of the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT), and SBS.
“It is strategic for Italy to be able to count in Singapore, a showcase for the entire ASEAN region, on the presence of a company of the caliber of MERMEC, which is characterized by a very high level of technology,” Ambassador Mario Vattani explained. “It means that we can present not only in the city-state, but in the entire Southeast Asian region our technological, research, and innovation potential. Today, the city’s metro system SMRT is among the safest and most advanced urban transportation systems in the world, thanks to the partnership with this true Italian excellence, which will be able to extend to fruitful collaborations in other countries”.
The Group, already present in 71 countries around the world and part of the Angel Holding, which also includes other companies such as VAIMOO (bike sharing), Blackshape Aircraft (aviation) and SITAEL (aerospace) and is headed by Knight of Labor Vito Pertosa, has signed contracts in the country worth a total of about 40 million euros.
In total, MERMEC has supplied and daily operates three Infrastructure Diagnostic Railcars (the last one of these being delivered in these days) and numerous systems installed on customers’ passenger trains.
To consolidate its presence and to better serve the strategic Southeast Asian area, MERMEC has had its own company in Singapore since 2020, with a local office where highly specialized Singaporean and Italian technicians and engineers’ work. In addition, it has taken up the invitation of the LTA’s top management to open another office by their depots to further consolidate this partnership.
