BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train loaded with switches, routers, microwave ovens and other goods left Guangzhou International Port Station in south China's Guangdong Province on January 2 for Europe, reported Chinanews.com Monday.
The first China-Europe freight train in 2023 from Guangzhou International Port will travel a total of 11,000 kilometers before reaching its European destination in 15 days.
Guangzhou Customs has been committed to strengthening the quality of China-Europe freight train services by supporting the development of multimodal transport services linked by rail transport, and expanding the import and export routes of freight trains.
By far, Guangzhou Customs provides reliable and efficient supervisions for China-Europe freight train services covering 40 cities in more than 20 countries and regions, ensuring a stable international logistics channel for more than 2,000 foreign trade enterprises.
It is noted that Guangzhou Customs supervised the operation of 339 China-Europe freight trains with a total of 300,74 TEUs in 2022, surging 164.84 percent and 135.54 percent compared with the same period in 2021, respectively. Among them, the customs witnessed 329 export freight trains to Europe in 2022, a surge of 163.20 percent compared with the same period in 2021.
Guangzhou Customs vows to continue to inject momentum into the smooth transportation of China-Europe freight trains in 2023, and help China-Europe freight trains give full play to their comprehensive advantages to promote the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
