Many people in Germany are willing to invest in climate-friendly technologies, according to a survey by the German Electrical and Digital Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI). Almost a quarter of respondents, for example, said they would like to invest money in their own photovoltaic system in the future, according to the survey conducted on behalf of the ZVEI. According to the survey, 22 percent plan to purchase a small solar unit for their balconies. A good 19 percent want to buy an e-car. In addition, 18 percent of respondents want to invest in battery storage and 14 percent in a heat pump.
The main reason cited for investment intentions is cost savings (73 percent), followed by the aspect of "greater energy security" (51 percent), and the desire to "become more climate-friendly" (46 percent). "Rising energy prices have obviously led people to increasingly consider how they can reduce their own energy consumption or generate their own electricity through the use of efficient electrification technologies," ZVEI Managing Director Wolfgang Weber said, according to a press release.
With regard to the amount of money they were considering investing, one-third of respondents plan to spend between 1,000 and 10,000 euros, while another 11 percent expect to spend between 10,000 and 25,000 euros. For the representative survey, around 1,500 people aged 18 and over in Germany were questioned. To keep this willingness to make climate-friendly investments high, the association is calling for further incentives from policymakers.
