BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD will begin selling its pure electric Tang sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and Han sedans in Mexico next year through eight Mexican dealers, according to Shanghai Securities News.
The company unveiled the two new EV models and invited trial drive in Mexico on Tuesday. It also announced to reach agreements with eight Mexican car dealers to provide BYD EV sales and after-sale services in the country.
The eight dealers are Grupo Continental, Grupo Cleber, Grupo Dalton, Grupo Excelencia, Grupo Farrera, Grupo Fame, Liverpool and Grupo del Rincón.
BYD aims to sell 10,000 vehicles in Mexico in 2023 and 20,000 to 30,000 vehicles in 2024, with the long-term goal of occupying about ten percent of the total market share in the country, according to Zou Zhou, country manager of BYD Mexico. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
