BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Starbucks Federation has recently announced to donate over 17 million yuan (about 2.36 million U.S. dollars) to the China Foundation for Rural Development in order to support the development of the coffee industry in southwest China's Yunnan Province, reported Shanghai Securities News on Sunday.

Leading the exploration of a new kind of rural revitalization model that combines coffee and cultural tourism industries, the Starbucks-aided project will focus on building a vibrant Chinese-style coffee community, leveraging the characteristic advantageous resources of ten villages in the Puer City of Yunnan.

According to Starbucks China, the project is expected to be accomplished by the year 2024, when the company should realize its goal to help 30 villages in Yunnan, benefiting around 65,000 families of local coffee farmers. Through years of efforts and multiple social projects, the company is committed to revitalizing the Chinese coffee origin community and improving local residents' livelihood.
