BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Pingyi County of east China’s Shandong Province is gearing up honeysuckle brand building to scale up production and advance industrial chain upgrades.
The county has been implementing the strategy of green production, production-processing-market integration, standard setting, and brand-driven in recent years to develop an upgraded honeysuckle industrial chain with higher value and returns.
For instance, the county spent some 1.5 billion yuan for the first phase of China (Pingyi) Honeysuckle Health Industrial Park which was put into production at the end of 2020, reaping a more comprehensive honeysuckle chain that covers plantation, processing, research and development, production, inspection, warehousing, logistics and traceability.
Honeysuckle is an often used ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and also one of raw materials for Chinese herbal tea.
As a major honeysuckle production base, it is noted that Pingyi County boasts 43,000 hectares of honeysuckle plantation, with a total output value of over 4.5 billion yuan.
In addition to the high yield, Pingyi honeysuckle also stands for high-quality as well with both Geographical Indication trademark Agro-product Geographical Indications at hand.
The county also rolled out supporting policies to further refine standards, testing, quality management and a protecting system for better use of the Geographical Indication.
In terms of overseas market exploration, it is introduced that Pingyi is working on international trademark applications and registrations under the Madrid System in addition to its traditional Southeast Asia market share.
