BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- A cold-chain container truck loaded with Thai coconuts, longans and other commodities drove into Guangzhou Nansha international logistics center on Tuesday, marking the official launch of cold-chain import business in the south area of Guangzhou Nansha international logistics center, the largest single cold storage in China, reported Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.
It is learned that after the relevant procedures for the import of cold-chain commodities, the goods will be transported outward through highways, covering the Greater Bay Area urban agglomeration within 1 hour, and reaching all parts of China in 24 hours, greatly reducing the customers' logistics chain and time costs.
Dong Lei, executive deputy general manager of Nansha International Cold Chain Co., Ltd., said that currently, 182 liner routes have been opened in Nansha Port, including 150 foreign trade liner routes. Goods can be quickly distributed and transferred through sea-rail combined transportation and sea-land combined transportation. The launching of the Nansha cold-chain project will greatly enhance the logistics efficiency and agglomeration capacity in the Greater Bay Area.
As an important part of Guangzhou Port Group to build an international shipping logistics hub and international cold-chain distribution center, the south area of Nansha international logistics center cold-chain project covers an area of 208,000 square meters, with planning cold storage capacity of 460,000 tonnes.
