BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) – A China-Europe freight train loaded with more than 120 tonnes of Chinese tea left southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Thursday, heading for Uzbekistan, reported Chinanews.com on Thursday.
The cargoes will be transported by rail from Chongqing to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and transferred to Uzbekistan by road transport, marking the opening of the first road-rail combined transport route linking Chongqing-Uzbekistan. The whole journey is expected to take 15-20 days.
Thanks to the joint efforts made by the local customs and railway departments in Chongqing, the intermodal freight route launched this time has saved 3-5 days of transportation time compared with the previous international railway combined transportation, and has the advantages of reliable transportation capacity and reasonable freight, according to Chongqing Port and Logistics Office.
Zhang Ruiyu, sales manager of Yuxinou Chongqing Logistics Co., LTD, the train operator said that, unlike the previous international freight intermodal transport from railway to railway, the new freight line combining road and rail transport mode has further relieved the pressure of customs clearance at railway ports.
Zhang added that the opening of the road-rail intermodal freight route will further facilitate the transportation system of the China-Europe freight train and smooth the international trade and logistics channels in the Eurasian region. (Edited by Jiang Feifan, 346129473@qq.com)
