BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Mails sent to 12 European countries from southwest China's Sichuan Province were supervised by Chengdu Customs Monday. After reloading, the mails will take WE454L China-Europe freight train out of the country, which marks Sichuan's first China-Europe freight train providing postal service officially launched, news from General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC).
Through Horgos Port in Xinjiang, the train will to arrive in Malaszewicz of Poland in 20 days, and then be transferred to other countries. Through the integration and innovation of China-Europe freight train plus international postal mails, it will greatly expand the international postal routes, and change the development pattern of Sichuan's international mailing business, according to relevant person in charge of port supervision of Chengdu Customs.
It is learned that in recent years, COVID-19 epidemic has posed severe challenges to international postal services. Based on existing transportation capacity advantages, Chengdu Customs together with China Post Group Sichuan Company customized the special China-Europe freight train postal service plan.
Xu Kun, general manager of China Post Group Sichuan Company said that shipping mails through the China-Europe freight train can alleviate the problems of high freight cost and insufficient transportation capacity of traditional air mail, as well as further expand scope of shipping items.
