BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese high-tech company Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. (Huayou Cobalt, 603799.SH) announced Tuesday that it had signed a cooperation framework agreement on the joint construction of a high-pressure acid immersion project with PT Vale Indonesia Tbk.
According to the agreement, the limonite required for the project will be supplied by PT Vale Indonesia Tbk's Sorowako mine in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The high-pressure acid immersion technology will be adopted to process the mine's laterite nickel and limonite, and the project plans to produce nickel-cobalt hydroxide products with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tonnes (metric tons) of nickel metal.
The two sides will consider expanding the project capacity in the event of additional limonite availability, says the agreement.
