The project was launched by State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. in 2018 to help students from poor families receive education and find jobs, so as to help them bag stable income and shake off poverty, according to Meng Qingqiang, president of the company.
Yu Jun, principal of CSEPTC, said that students enrolled through the project are exempted from accommodation fees and part of tuition, adding that they can also enjoy special scholarships.
State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. has set up a financial support system to provide assistance to eligible students. For example, it has granted 599,000 yuan of scholarships to students with good performance in the past five years.
Statistics showed that students recruited through the project can earn an average annual income of 60,000 yuan after they officially take their jobs. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
