BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Statistics showed, up to now, Guangzhou Port has launched 35 sea-rail intermodal transportation routes linking inland provinces such as Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and etc., reported Chinanews.com Tuesday.
Recently, a new sea-rail intermodal container train route connecting Liuzhou of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Nansha Port of Guangzhou was launched, which marks the 35th sea-rail intermodal transportation channel of Guangzhou Port Group.
According to the company, the entire railway transportation trip is about 1,000 kilometers, and it takes only 4 days from Liuzhou's factories to reach Nansha Port, which lowers 20 percent costs than road transportation.
Cargo on the train was mainly home appliances produced in Liuzhou, after reloading, the containers will be shipped to Africa.
It is learned that Liuzhou is an important cargo source hinterland of Guangzhou Port, with abundant product sources and a solid industrial foundation. The sea-rail intermodal logistics channel was formulated and customized according to Liuzhou local enterprises' needs.
Moreover, in the first half of this year, sea-rail intermodal transportationvolume of Guangzhou Port's Nansha Port Railway stood at 31,000 TEUs.
