BEIJING, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Hohhot, the capital city of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, expedited development of local goat milk industry with targeted preferential policies in recent years, reported Worker's Daily on July 22.
The city focused on boosting different sections of local goat milk industry including quality milk source base construction, R&D on dairy goat breeds, goat milk product R&D and production, and complete dairy goat industrial chain construction to leverage related development.
In 2021, a set of policies and measures aiming at fostering local dairy goat industry was also mapped out to support subsidizing dairy goat breeding and fine breeds breeding, financial and insurance supports to the sector, standardized system construction, and related brand building and promotion incentives and subsidies as well.
For instance, brand consultancy and planning activities for goat milk products processing enterprises such as brand design and planning, brand promotion channel building, brand marketing and planning, and brand market survey are prioritized in related policy supports.
Local goat milk products processing enterprises are supported to go out to take part in brand promotion activities such as large comprehensive exhibitions, special exhibitions, online promotion activities, and media promotion to enhance brand competitiveness and influence.
Under the preferential policies, a PV and animal husbandry integrated pastureland capable of feeding 150,000 dairy goats in Horinger County and a dairy goat farm capable of feeding 200,000 dairy goats will kick off this year.

Shengjian goat milk company is a local firm which operates one of the largest dairy goat breeds bases in China and is constructing 30 dairy goats farms at present. By 2025, the number of dairy goats in the goat farms of the company is expected to grow to 0.5 million ones.
Led by large local dairy goat companies, large-scale dairy goat breeding developed in a faster pace in Hohhot where a new batch of smart dairy goat breeding bases have been put into operation.
Built to provide intensified, modern, large scale and integrated feeding, these smart dairy goat breeding bases are encouraged to be equipped with automatic feeding systems and equipments for totally mixed diet formulation and feeding, excreta removal and comprehensive utilization, and environmental control and to use Internet of things equipment and technologies to carry out precisely-controlled feeding, environment adjustment and control, and automatic disease diagnosis.
In a smart dairy goat demonstration base of Shengjian goat milk company, the average daily milk output of each dairy goat has risen up to 2.5 kilograms from 1.5 kilograms in the past and daily fresh goat milk output of the first phase of the dairy goat demonstration base has reached 21 tonnes.
By 2026, Shengjian goat milk company will strive to raise the number of dairy goats in its farms to one million ones and by then, a dairy goat industrial circle with Hohhot as the center and a radius of 200 kilometers will be in shape, helpful to further sharpen the goat milk industry in the Chinese dairy capital.
