BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- A China-Europe freight train loaded with 94 containers of food and daily necessities departed on Wednesday from Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The 2,418 tonnes of cargo carried, including sugar and networking cables from China as well as cashew nuts and daily necessities from Vietnam, is scheduled to travel around 4,662 km and arrive at Tashkent in 7 days, according to China Railway Nanning Group Co., Ltd.
The China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan freight train is the first China-Europe freight train operated from Guangxi to Uzbekistan, and also the fifth China-Europe freight train route launched by Guangxi.
Under streamlined customs clearance procedure, the new route will shorten transport time by one to two days, effectively ensuring goods delivery. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
