MILAN, May 16 (Class Editori) — US real estate investment and development company RED Group, in collaboration with Torchio & Daghero, has chosen Pininfarina Architecture to build the new Smart House that will be located in the district of Scalo di Porta Romana in Milan.
After Smart House 43 Saluzzo 43 in Turin, Red Group decided to export its know-how also to Milan and be part of the urban redevelopment project that will affect the city for the next 20 years. Pininfarina Architecture will be in charge of the design of the building and common spaces: for the Group, the Smart House represents the first residential project on national territory. Icona Architetti —an architecture and design firm founded in Milan by Federica Poggio and Marco Orto, specializing in residential buildings— will be assisting Pininfarina in the construction work.
"With its first residential project in Milan, Pininfarina intends to consolidate its vision of architecture as a synthesis of beauty and technology, oriented to maximize well-being and sharing among the users who will inhabit it," Giovanni de Niederhäusern, Senior Vice-President for architecture at Pininfarina, stated.
The new Smart House —whose design will soon be submitted to the relevant offices— will be built within the area of Scalo di Porta Romana and will contribute to the district's transformation process, which was started in 2015 by Prada with the construction of the homonymous Foundation. Five years later, the luxury giant in collaboration with Coima and Covivio —international companies operating in the real estate sector— won the tender for the redevelopment of the entire area, which will host the Olympic Village for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
"LVMH, Moncler, Amplifon and Fastweb are among the multinationals that have recently decided to reposition their headquarters in the area of Scalo di Porta Romana, strengthening even more this hub’s appeal in the city of Milan," Andrea Marangione, Managing Partner of RED Italia, stated. "For the second Smart House in Italy, we want to go a step further, by choosing to enhance the property’s design with an exceptional partner, Pininfarina, with whom we share the same passion and vision toward the new way of living," he concluded.
Last Friday, Pininfarina released its financial results for the first quarter, showing a slight increase in EBITDA and a 1 million euros loss. Despite the unpromising results, the Group was confident about increasing production value in 2022. Following today's announcement, the stock on the Milan Stock Exchange trades at parity at 0.836 euros.
