BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.96 percent, at 3,084.28 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.59 percent higher at 11,159.79 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 757.16 billion yuan (about 111.51 billion U.S. dollars), down from 821.24 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares related to real estate, shipping and automobiles led the gains, while those in the e-commerce as well as paper-making sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.29 percent to close at 2,358.16 points Friday.
