SHENZHEN, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Statistics from Shenzhen Customs showed that since launch of the first Shenzhen Greater Bay Area (GBA) China-Europe freight train, a total of 189 trains were operated as of May 10, transporting 109,000 tonnes of goods with total value of 5 billion yuan, reported local media Thursday.

The "Greater Bay Area" or "GBA" here refers to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, one of China's economic powerhouses.

It is learned that in order to fully guarantee the smooth running of China-Europe freight trains, Shenzhen Customs has established a rapid coordination mechanism and innovatively launched a series of logistics facilitation measures to create a multi-dimensional logistics network connecting Euro-Asia and ASEAN countries, so as to better help enterprises in Shenzhen and neighbouring areas to go global.

Curretly, on the basis of China-Europe freight train, Shenzhen Customs has helped to develop routes such as the Shenzhen-Laos international freight train and Hong Kong freight train trips, giving full play to its role as a transportation hub connecting Hong Kong, Macao, Europe and ASEAN.

Since the beginning of this year, Shenzhen has seen an amount of  41 China-Europe  freight train trips, a year-on-year increase of 51.9 percent.
