BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese electric carmaker NIO has inked a deal with Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone in east China's Anhui Province to settle its second phase of NeoPark for complete intelligent electric vehicle (EV) production.
Expected to cover a land of 1,860 mu (about 124 hectares), the new project plans to bring in NIO's middle and high-end intelligent EV sub-brand products and is scheduled to complete construction for manufacturing in 2024, according to a release by Hefei government's offical wechat account.
The first phase of NeoPark kicked off in April last year with an investment of 50 billion yuan for facility construction.
Founded in November 2014, NIO is a pioneer in China's premium electric vehicle market, with its global headquarters located in Shanghai and China headquarters in Hefei.
It is noted that NIO's 200,000th vehicle rolled off the production line on April 26 this year in Hefei, after previous milestone of manufacturing its 100,000th vehicle in April 2021. (Edited by Niu Huizhe with Xinhua Silk Road, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
