BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The 19th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) will be held both online and offline, highlighting cooperation under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), with special exhibition featuring ASEAN and RCEP set up for the first time, according to the Senior Officials' Meeting for the 19th CAEXPO held online on Tuesday, reported Chinanews.com.
This year's CAEXPO contains a year-long online exhibition and a four-day offline event, which is set to be taken place from September 16 to 19 in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The total planned exhibition area is 102,000 square meters, accommodating 5,400 booths, introduced Wang Lei, secretary general of the CAEXPO Secretariat at the meeting.
Trade between China and the ASEAN countries has been infused with fresh energies since the RCEP took effect at the beginning of this year. China is determined to build upon the RCEP a more inclusive China-ASEAN trade ties, bringing mutual benefits to both sides and promoting healthy development for the greater region, according to an official of China's Ministry of Commerce.
Representatives of ASEAN countries at the meeting expressed their willingness to make full use of the CAEXPO platform and provide increasing support to the preparatory work of the event. Specifically, Malaysia will make active efforts to organize series of activities including the promotion of the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" initiative between China and Malaysia. Representative from Thailand also indicated that around 50 Thai exhibitors from various sectors are expected to participate in this year's expo.
Senior officials from relative departments of China and the ten ASEAN countries, as well as from embassies and consulate generals of ASEAN countries to China attended Tuesday's meeting.
