BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- China will expand the number of comprehensive pilot zones for promoting service sector's opening-up and develop bases for featured services export, in a bid to cultivate new advantage in the export of services including traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), digital services, human resources, etc., the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.
Through seven years of continuous efforts, China has developed five demonstration pilot zones for expanding service sector's opening-up in cities and provinces of Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hainan and Chongqing, offering seven batches of 35 practical experience cases to the entire nation. The MOC vows to continue in-depth trial work in the five places and promote their innovative achievement as reference to other regions in the country.
The MOC has been cultivating bases for featured services export in recent years, in order to develop new forms and patterns of trade in services. Recently, seven departments including the MOC has reviewed and approved 40 specialized bases for featured services export covering four sectors of human resources, geographic information, intellectual property and language services. Also involving other sectors of culture, TCM and digital services, China has altogether established 112 bases for featured services export up until now.
In the future, the MOC will work with relevant departments to guide the development of bases for featured services export. Through issuing favorable policies and measures, as well as encouraging the bases to cultivate market players with global competitiveness in the service sector, the ministry will promote the expansion of services export and the innovative development of trade in services, said MOC spokesperson Shu Jueting.
