InfoQuest (March 16, 2022) - Ms. Auramon Supthaweethum, Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations of Thailand's Ministry of Commerce announced, the 28th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Retreat (AEM Retreat) will be held from March 16 to 17 via video link. During the meeting, the participants willdiscuss economic issues with a view to achieving initial results this year, contributing to ASEAN's economic recovery during the post-pandemic era and promoting the alignment of economic strategies between ASEAN countries and non-ASEAN countries.
The ASEAN Summit, themed "ASEAN A.C.T. Addressing Challenges Together", will focus on four major strategies, including promoting digital, science and technology connectivity; narrowing the gap in ASEAN's competitiveness; advancing ASEAN integration and enhancing its competitiveness; being an important part of the international community and working together to promote growth and development.
Auramon said, Thailand will announce that it will host the APEC meeting under the theme of "Open, Connect, Balance". ASEAN and APEC share common concerns and goals on some issues, especially in promoting sustainable development.
Thailand will hold the APEC MRT meeting from May 21 to 22 this year.
